Vanguard, Wellington test tokenized MMF collateral on Canton via Nasdaq Calypso

Tokenized collateral trials on the Canton Network have become routine. The latest, involving Vanguard and Wellington Management, stands out because the assets posted were not Treasuries but tokenized money market fund shares, run through Nasdaq’s Calypso collateral management platform.

The MMF shares were tokenized using Nasdaq technology and issued on Canton, the privacy enabled blockchain built by Digital Asset.

The key selling point is that digital assets sit within a single, unified collateral pool alongside traditional instruments, mobilized through the same interface. Firms do not need to log into a separate system or run parallel workflows. Margin calls, eligibility checks and post trade updates all run within the platform they already use.

As Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz noted at the Wyoming Salt conference, the barrier to institutional adoption is rarely the technology itself. It is whether tokenization can make it onto the priority list. The less new infrastructure a firm has to build, the shorter that queue.
