Google Cloud becomes validator for Tezos blockchain

google cloud

Google Cloud already runs validator nodes for several blockchains and will now become a corporate baker for the Tezos proof of stake blockchain. The term ‘baker’ is the Tezos equivalent of the operator of a validator node.

Decrypt first reported the news.

Hedera Hashgraph was the first distributed ledger to attract Google Cloud as a node operator more than three years ago when it joined the Governing Council of the network. Since then, Google Cloud has become a validator or supplied nodes for the Theta video blockchain, FlowSolana and Ronin. In October, it unveiled a managed hosting service for Ethereum nodes and ramped up its engagement in the sector at the time.

Ubisoft is one of the highest profile existing corporate bakers on Tezos, and the blockchain has also been used for CBDC trials with Banque de France and Societe Generale.

Deutsche Telekom’s T-Systems is another cloud firm that is a validator node operator for Celo and Flow as well as providing staking services for Ethereum.
