Spanish football league LaLiga and Dapper Labs have announced their digital collectible offering LaLiga Golazos (Golazos) will launch on October 27. That’s when the platform will have its first NFT drop and the start of the closed beta.
This announcement comes just over a year since Dapper Labs first announced it would develop non-fungible token (NFT) video moments for LaLiga.
As the NFT sector matures, the offerings are becoming more feature rich, and this one is no different. Each moment will include a broadcast replay, fan reactions, multilingual play-by-play narration and match statistics, providing NFT owners with an immersive experience. It is Dapper Labs’ first bilingual product, allowing them to tap into revenue from the Spanish-speaking market.
“LaLiga is steeped in history, tradition, and legendary moments and our fans are some of the most passionate in the world and we are excited to offer a new way for them to experience the moments they love,” said LaLiga Executive Director Óscar Mayo.
Given that Dapper Labs originated the concept of video moments, they are an ideal partner for LaLiga. From a business perspective, moments offer significantly more revenue opportunities than player card collectibles. There are a seemingly infinite number of video moments compared to a very limited number of players.
This remains Dapper Labs’ largest non-US sports deal to date. Its major sports partnerships so far have included NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day and UFC Strike. In the case of NFL All Day, Dapper is doubling down on its investment with multiple deals with teams.
Based on transaction numbers (rather than revenue), all three of Dapper’s sports ventures are in the top 15 during the last week. According to CryptoSlam, NFL All Day is number one, NBA Top Shot is in the fifth spot, and UFC Strike is 14th.
